David Wiener Art Scarves
My mother worked for Hermes of Paris for 20 years, so I couldn't help but get exposed to the world of fine silk scarves. My wife, Kate, is the lucky beneficiary of my mom's collection, but I benefited in ways I never expected. Years later, it came full circle as I worked with my Italian friends to produce a first series of fine silk scarves with my artwork. After a lot of sample testing of silks and printing, these scarves are equally beautiful as fashion or as wall art. Wear them out. Hang them up. Frame them. Wrap them around your gear shift lever.
Mixing Art, Cars and Fashion
Over the years, friends and collectors kept saying my art would make great scarves. I never gave it a lot of thought as I focused on making artwork for walls. But it started to make sense. Why not enjoy the colors and patterns and cars and motorsports and all the things that I love about design and racing in another medium. Following are a few Art Scarves. I have the same attitude about my fashion design as I do about my cars: it's about being used, not saved. One of my early taglines for fashion was "Wear It Out."
