David Wiener & Michael Furman Exhibit Automotive Art at Winfield Gallery – Carmel
August 2, 2024Park City entrepreneur pieces together ‘modern abstracts’
For the past nine years, Park City-based engineer David Wiener, the founder and chief executive officer of David Wiener Ventures, DWV Entertainment and Respect the Music Foundation, has focused on fine-art.
The entrepreneur, who has worked for the likes of Porsche and Ferrari as a mechanic and marketer, creates what he calls “modern abstracts,” which are collages of automotive-detail closeups that include engine parts, decals, to name a few.
“I shoot photos of details,” he said. “I shoot a lot of photographs, knowing what details I want to highlight. So I will shoot them at various angles and then start laying out the pieces to figure out how to combine them.”
The process, according to Wiener, is a lot of “trial and error.”
In August, Wiener’s work showcased at an exhibit during Monterey Car Week, which is the biggest event in the car world, at Carmel, California.
The abstracts were on display alongside the works of Michael Furman, whom some consider one of the greatest automotive photographers alive, according to Wiener.
